The Loadies Travese
| [View Left] | [View Right] |
Loadies traverse is a technical, crimper of a problem that is long enough to make it an endurance route as well. This traverse goes from the right most face to the left of the image following the low chalk-marked holds. When you reach the vertical crack on the left of the image you drop down to a large hold that is not visible in the image, and continue on to the left. To do the Loadies dream just follow this into the Flake, traverse over it, and proceed on to the Iron Cross itself. Finish with the straight up exit.
Directly above Loadies you will notice another horizontal crack. This is the easy hand traverse. This is a good warmup because the hand holds are almost all sloping or rounded. You start it from the right, with a straight-up problem that overlaps the start of Loadies, get on the crack and traverse it to the left. You can either run laps on this, or just follow it to the Flake and do the Flake's finish.
There are many other routes that you can play with on this boulder. Lots of interesting straight-up problems, and variations on the popular traverses. Play around here! You'll most likely meet other climbers here, and the routes themselves are worth it.
