Intro (What is this?)
This is an online bouldering guide for Lincoln
Woods State Park which is widely regarded as having the best bouldering in
New England. Here you'll find
directions to get to "The Woods",
a map of the areas boulders, a
guide to the bouldering problems, and
a little history. Our intention
is to provide information about the bouldering at The Woods. There is lots
of bouldering here, but you'll be hard pressed to find it on your own (that's
why we've got a map of the area). Wedon't
intend this to be a complete guide to the boulders there since that would
be impossible. The possibilities for routes is phenomenal, and the number
of link-ups huge -- causing John Sherman to dub this area the "Linkin'
Woods".
The "Rock 'n Road" Guide gives the Woods 3 Stars out of five! Horsetooth
Reservoir gets 4 out of 5 so that's pretty darn good!
The Goal:
Rui Campos started this project intending to produce a fully browsable,
point-and-click guide to Lincoln Woods bouldering. Because he couldn't devote
much time to it, Rui passed this guide on to us here at newenglandbouldering.com.
We have taken Rui's old guide and tried to update it as best we can. We hope
to keep updating it and adding to it, to make it a continuing resource
to visitors and locals alike. We welcome
any and all comments.
Disclaimer:
Please remember that we are very proud of this area. It's quiet, clean, and
friendly, and we want to keep it that way. Don't dump garbage in our woods,
and don't leave behind any food bar wrappers or used hand tape. There
usually aren't any garbage barrels or toilets near the boulders, so be prepared
for this. Also, climbers are not the only ones who come to the Lincoln Woods
State Park. The locals use the park for walking, all-terrain biking, soccer
games, swimming, fishing, picnics, and more. They stay out of your way so
be considerate of them as well. |
