Rocky Woods, Taunton, MA According to Chris Trautz, there are more puddingstone boulders in this areas, but The Wall is by far the best one. Heading west on Route 44, take a right on North Walker Street, and then a left on Rocky Woods Road. About three-tenths of a mile down Rocky Woods Road, you will pass some open fields and the dirt road will start to get rough. Best to park here and walk in, unless you have a four-wheel drive vehicle. About 100 yards past the fields a path, marked by a cairn, heads left. A couple of hundred feet up this trail, the path forks. Take the right path, marked by another cairn. The Wall is a few paces up on the right, you cannot miss it. The Warm-up boulders are behind The Wall about 100 yards or so. The only established problem on the overhanging side of The Wall so far is The Crack, a three-star V3. The landings here are excellent, but you may want a pad since The Wall is a bit tall. Be sure to follow the same path out, as Rocky Woods is full of devious mountain bike trails that will take you for miles and then deposit you right back at The Wall. Don't block the road when you park and pack out your trash. |
